College Planning Resources
Advanced Placement courses are rigorous, college-level courses in a variety of subjects that give students an opportunity to gain skills and experience that colleges recognize. Some colleges will accept AP credit to substitute for actual college classes and other colleges will not accept any AP credit. Some of the elite colleges, do not accept any AP credit (even with a score of 5). Students should check college websites for guidelines about accepting AP credit.
Freshmen, sophomore, and juniors are required to sit for their AP exams in May. The fee for each AP exam is $93.00 and checks should be made payable to NSU University School. Seniors are not required to sit for their exams, but if they choose to do so, they must “opt in” by completing a registration form and submitting payment to Ms. Shafa. Any senior who does not register for the AP exam by November 18th will not be allowed to take the exam.
