Lower School Treasures and Dreams Magazine

The Treasures and Dreams magazine is a compilation of student works that includes poems, illustrations, and short stories and/or thoughts. It is produced entirely by students and highlights the talents of children in grades Junior Kindergarten - 5. Students are encouraged to keep a writer’s notebook throughout the summer and during the school year. Teachers then use these notebook entries as starting points for completed pieces for the Treasures and Dreams magazine.

Lower School Newspaper

The Shining Sun Newspaper is published twice a year and reflects the voice of the entire Lower School. Fourth and fifth grade students meet once a week to learn the components of informative writing, effective researching, and open ended interviewing.

Middle School Newspaper

Students in the Middle School Newspaper class receive instruction in all areas of journalism needed to produce four editions of the school newspaper. Among the areas taught are interviewing, beat reporting, feature writing, news stories, layout design, advertising, journalistic ethics, and professional standards.

Upper School Newspaper

The Daily Catch, the Upper School newspaper, is written, designed, edited, and produced by a group of students who simultaneously learn and utilize journalistic skills. The Daily Catch and its staff have won more than a dozen Sun-Sentinel High School Journalism Awards, and staff members have also participated in prestigious internship programs at The Sun-Sentinel and The Miami Herald. The Daily Catch is published three to four times each year.
