Upper School Newspaper
The Sun Beat, the upper school newspaper, is written, designed, edited, and produced by a group of students who simultaneously learn and utilize journalistic skills. The Sun Beat and its staff have won more than a dozen Sun-Sentinel High School Journalism Awards, and staff members have also participated in prestigious internship programs at The Sun-Sentinel and The Miami Herald. Lower School Newspaper
The Shining Sun Newspaper is published twice a year and reflects the voice of the entire Lower School. Fourth and Fifth grade students meet once a week to learn the components of informative writing, effective reseraching and open ended interviewing.
Middle School Newspaper
Newspaper students receive instruction in all areas of journalism needed to produce four editions of the school newspaper. Among the areas covered are: interviewing, beat reporting, feature writing, news stories, layout design, advertising, journalistic ethics, and professional standards. This class is made up of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.
Upper School Literary Magazine
The literary magazine, which takes a new theme and title each year, is a student produced annual magazine highlighting the talents of students in grades 9 – 12. We are always looking for submissions of poetry, short- short stories (under 1000 words), essays, photography and original art work. Students are encouraged to submit works online, however, if you have original artwork or photography that you wish to submit, please give it to Mrs. Lambert in room 30 or e-mail her at lambert@nova.edu.
