Suns Win Second Consecutive Leauge Championship!
Congratulations to the Middle School Girls Basketball team for winning the Independent Athletic League Championship for the second straight year. The Suns defeated a very tough Brauser Maimonides Academy in front of a capacity crowd, by the score of 48-25. The Suns led by only the slightest of margins throughout most of the first half before pulling away from the Bulldogs in the closing minutes of the half to lead by the score of 22-13. The Suns dominated the second half with the help of leading scorer Lindsey Balta, who had a career high 26 points and 11 rebounds. Rachel Savelle added 6 points and had a team high 6 assists. Taylor Bast had 5 points and a team high 6 steals. Jenna Tabatchnick also had 5 points, Victoria Kohl chipped in with 4 points, and Perri Silverstein added 2. Other members of the team include: Alexis Edney-Jones, Blake Egozi, Shelby Gilreath, Sydney Silverstein, Alexa Bernstein, Victoria Sichler, Danielle Boyd and Natalie Weiner. The Lady Suns finished their season with an 11-1 record, outscored opponents by an average score of 36-17, and were undefeated in league play. Congratulations ladies!
