University School's Michael Barasch, who set the county's single-season rushing record with 2,031 yards, was named to the Class 2B All-State football team, as selected by the Florida Sports Writers Association. Barasch, who was also the South Florida Sun-Sentinel Class 3A-2A-1A-1B Player of the Year, was the lone Broward County selection to earn first-team honors. Four Broward players earned first-team honors on the Class 2A squad, which was also released Tuesday.

University School running back Michael Barasch, who set a Broward record with 2,071 rushing yards, was the named to First-Team All-State for Class 2B by the Florida Sports Writers Association on Tuesday.  Barasch was the only Broward player to be named to the 2B first team. University offensive lineman Nima Khavanin was named to second team.

Game Notes

In only their second year of existence and first season in District play, the team qualified for the State Playoffs. The Playoffs will kick off on Friday, November 16th, when the Suns will travel to Nationally Ranked Pahokee. The Blue Devils are the top-ranked team in Class 2B and are ranked 8th in the Nation. The regular season concludes next Thursday night as the Suns face Upperroom Christian at Nova High School @ 7pm. Senior running back Mike Barasch needs 227 rushing yards to eclipse the 2,000-yard mark. The Suns are led on defense by their top three tacklers, seniors William Martinez and Peter Jean-Francois, and freshman Justin Cooper.
