“Suns Survive Bird in ‘07”
Coach Steve Bird had a new vision, attitude, and approach to the 2007 Cross Country season; one that University School Cross Country had yet to ever witness before. He brought fire and intensity to his athletes. In turn, he received effort, enthusiasm, and a fierce competitiveness from his boys and girls that even they did not know they possessed. The season ended on a high note with Sydney Schneider qualifying for the State Meet in Dade City. She placed 69th overall in the meet with a time of 21:03. Several of her teammates made the trip to cheer on their fellow teammate. The experience was memorable for all the girls in attendance and gave the team a vision for the future.
