The lower school music program is designed to develop vocal, instrumental and literacy skills through singing, listening experiences, movement, and creative musical expression. Each day, students are introduced to famous pieces of music that are written by well known composers and are given the opportunity to play this music through various musical instruments. Each grade level presents a musical show which gives them a venue for musical expression. Children are also given additional opportunities to join the singing and instrumental groups that perform for our students and faculty during the school day as well as their parents in a nighttime performance. For further musical instruction, they can join the lower school band which meets afterschool. At University School, students are given a plethora of opportunities to discover the music within themselves.
